| These sessions offer focused study on some of the principles underlying the Main Tracks. Each session is offered once during the week. |
This is a highly valuable session for anyone who
wants to learn a straightforward process to prepare and present clear, concise briefings.
It is estimated that ineffective briefings waste up to one-third of the time we spend in
meetings. This fast paced session will take participants through a seven step
planning process.
Participants should come to class with a topic in mind from work, community, or home. Briefings are made for many reasons: to inform, persuade, make a decision, reach agreement, analyze implications, or initiate action. Choose a topic that will lend itself to one of these objectives. Briefings may be formal or informal, and most of us are expected to present briefings in the course of our work. If you want to deliver your subject matter in a logical and condensed form and improve your presentation skills, this session is for you. In one short morning, participants will develop an effective briefing and make a practice presentation in a small group setting. And for the shy - don't worry, there won't be any video cameras in the room! This is a great opportunity to gain skills that can make us more effective in our everyday life.
