Everyone is scheduled to attend these sessions which are reinforced and expanded during sessions throughout the week. Our workshop has been designed around four Core Competencies.  These sessions help ensure that everyone, regardless of track they attend, is exposed to certain base skills and concepts.  The Main Tracks will build on these concepts and show how to apply tools and techniques to situations common to the track. To keep class sizes small several small courses are held concurrently.

Participants in meetingThink about all the different types of meetings that involve you at work.

Our jobs require us to participate in numerous group interactions.  This session provides an introduction to the skills and techniques to effectively facilitate these group interactions and manage the process, people, and information. Ground-tested methods are described for designing and managing a process to meet a groups objectives; managing group interactions to ensure open, respectful, and focused communication; and helping the group gather, organize, sort, and synthesize the information.

Participants will learn:

• The importance of having a written agenda, objectives, and group agreements;
• How to set the stage for success, no matter what your role;
• Techniques you can use to keep the group focused and moving forward;
• Skills to get the group back on track; and
• How to evaluate whether the group was successful.
