Tom is currently employed as a Washington State Park Ranger (Manager) assigned to Steamboat Rock State Park.  He has 33 years experience in the outdoor recreation field, which includes managing a variety of Washington State Parks. He has been a defensive tactics instructor for 15 years, and currently is certified as a Washington State firearms instructor.  Tom co-developed and prompted the adoption of the first tactical communications program for Washington State Parks; he serves as a tactical communications instructor for varied agencies.  

He has been a Cispus Workshop facilitator for over 10 years. He has over 20 years experience in delivering training in communications, understanding conflict, and psycho-motor skill based training.  Tom helped launch the first Collaboration for Natural Resource Managers workshop in 2005.
