Kathy Shinn enjoys educating adults, teachers, youth and the media on natural resource issues. She also likes working with the public and agencies to find common ground and solutions to natural resource problems.

As a member of the Communications staff at Oregon Department of Energy since 2004, she provides outreach support, and writes and edits for internal and external publications. For 14 years she worked at Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife doing public involvement, working with constituent groups and the media, training staff in communications skills, writing, editing, and managing a volunteer program. She currently serves on the interagency Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds Outreach Team.

As a Cispus staff member, Kathy has facilitated the teams, meetings management and public involvement main track sessions. She also has taught advanced facilitation skills, working with volunteers and environmental education.

What do I love about Cispus?

I love working with natural resource professionals who have some of the most challenging and complex issues and work environments of anyone anywhere – and they are incredibly dedicated people. I often learn as much from participants and other staff as I share as a workshop facilitator.

Where can you find me?

Walking (fast), hiking, playing with my grandchildren, keeping up with my border collie, hanging out with my family, fishing, birding, and being outdoors as much as possible. Did I mention traveling in the Northwest and abroad?
