| Hydro Framework Clearinghouse |
The Northwest Hydro Framework is the cooperative effort of
many federal, state, local, and tribal governmental organizations, as
well as private organizations to define, implement, and maintain a
single high resolution hydrography (1:24,000 scale) network for the
states of Washington, Oregon and Northern California.
Data Stewards for Hydrography - To coordinate development of the Hydrography Framework, an interactive mapping web site has been developed which displays the primary data stewards of hydrography and watershed information for each watershed in the Pacific Northwest. This way partners and other interested parties can determine who are the primary contacts for each watershed. To learn more about these and other issues, check out the Framework web site! |

NHD Conversion |
In an effort to coordinate with USGS national standards, Framework partners (USFS,
BLM, Washington State Dept. of Natural Resources and others) are developing 1:24,000 scale streams to
NHD standards as well as the PNW hydrography standards. The goal is to agree on a stream layer for Washington, Oregon and Northern California that best represents reality. For the weeks of May 20 and 28, 2002, the BLM, FS and REO hosted a series of workshops with agency hydrologists in order to establish a single set of hydrography for 49 high priority Sub-basins. These 4th Level HUC’s covered portions of Oregon and Washington. With the very high level of support from the hydrologists (staying until 10 at night!) we were able to meet our goal in agreeing on which agency hydrography to use. Click here for details. |
