NWFP Land Use Allocation Update, 2002

Background

The Land Use Allocation (LUA) dataset, along with other datasets, originally was developed through the Forest Ecosystem Management Assessment Team (FEMAT) for the Northwest Forest Plan (NWFP) Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (FSEIS) in 1993. The data was created at a coarse scale for regional planning and has since been refined and improved over the years by the individual administrative units which are responsible for NWFP implementation.

In August 2002, the Regional Interagency Executive Committee (RIEC) formed a working group under the Regional Ecosystem Office to develop interagency data standards for compiling the current agency data and to create updated land use allocations across the NWFP area.

Update Process The Land Use Allocations were updated to address specific inadequacies of the existing products of the NWFP. These include:

Changes and adjustments to land allocations that had occurred since the NWFP was published.
Inconsistencies in interpretation among administrative units for certain land allocations (especially Congressionally Reserved and Administratively Withdrawn categories).
Adjustment of the coarse initial land allocation map from the 40 acre grid to definable boundaries.

Check out the LUA Map Update Process Description ( html or PDF, 35k) for a  more detailed description of the map compilation process and datasets available.

Data Products

Digital datasets for the LUA Update project include LUA, Key Watersheds, the NWFP boundary and corresponding metadata available in Arc/Info export (.e00) format. Acreage reports for the Land Use Allocations are also available for review.
Map Products Digital and hardcopy maps are now available for these data products. The maps represent a display of the current agency data as of 2002.

Digital Maps: You may preview a .JPG version of the maps or download a map in .PDF or the Arc/Info plot file format. Full-size or page-size maps are both available.
