Memorandum
Date: June 17, 1998
To: Intergovernmental Advisory Committee Members (See Distribution List)
From: Donald R. Knowles, Executive Director
Subject: July 1998 Intergovernmental Advisory Committee Proposed Agenda
Enclosed is a proposed agenda for the July 16 Intergovernmental Advisory Committee (IAC) meeting. Essentially, I am suggesting that you consider two agenda topics (How to improve coordination and collaboration with state, tribal, and local governments as they seek to implement management approaches that support or complement the goals of the NFP and Future IAC agendas), that you then talk among yourselves prior to the meeting, and that we spend the first two hours of the July 16 meeting agreeing on our agenda for that day.
Three goals were set for this meeting during discussion at the February 5 IAC meeting:
I have proposed these two agenda topics as a way to help us achieve these goals. I am asking that before the meeting, each of the three non-Federal members representing a governmental interest (i.e., the three tribal IAC representatives, the three county representatives, and the three state representatives) talk to each other and come to the July 16 meeting prepared to discuss these topics, or alternatively to offer agenda topics of their own. I've asked Linda Kucera to contact the non-Federal members and set up conference call times and lines.
Logistics reminder: the July 16 meeting will be in the Training Room at the Bonneville Dam, Oregon. The Bonneville Dam is at Exit 40 on Interstate 84, about a 45 minute drive east from Portland. The meeting will be a work session of the members, without REO staff. Additional logistical and pre-meeting material will be mailed in advance of the meeting.
If you have questions or suggestion about the meeting agenda, please contact Linda Kucera at 503-808-2179, your agency representative, or Don Knowles at 503-808-2166.
