Biographical Information about James Alegria

James Alegria is a biometrician and vegetation inventory lead, U. S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Land Management, Oregon State Office and U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Pacific Northwest Region. He received a B.S. in Forest Management from the University of Massachusetts and a M.S. in Forest Biometrics from the University of Washington.

Jim has provided statistical consultation services for the BLM since 1990 and for the FS Pacific Northwest Region since 2000 in addition to his vegetation inventory responsibilities. He worked for the Northeastern Research Station, Forest Inventory and Analysis Program in research techniques in 1989 and has worked three years in Niger, West Africa as the biometrician for a US Agency for International Development project where he developed volume equations for the major firewood species and designed inventories on national forest lands.
