Biographical Information about Sean Healey
Sean Healey is a Forest Service Research Biologist at the PNW Research Station in Corvallis, OR. Sean received his B.A. in Biology from New College, his M.A. in Science Education from Columbia University, and his Ph.D. in silviculture from the University of Washington.
He has been at the PNW Research Station for three years, working primarily in the area of forest change detection. His research has included developing a transformation of Landsat data that makes it easier to automate the detection of stand replacement disturbance.
He has also been involved with an effort to map the changes in basal area and canopy cover resulting from partial harvests in central Washington from 1996 to 2004. Other research interests include: tropical forest ecology and the development of secondary tropical forests.
