Biographical Information about Sharon Heywood
Sharon Heywood was selected in 1995 to lead the Shasta-Trinity National Forest in Northern California. The Shasta-Trinity, a 2.2 million acre forest, is the largest in California and has an extensive program encompassing timber and other resources, wildlife, recreation and fire management.
Heywood’s Forest Service career began in Washington, D.C. in1979 after four years with the Bureau of Land. She served as staff assistant for the Deputy Chief of the National Forest System. She subsequently became Deputy Regional Planning Director in the Pacific Northwest Regional Office in Portland and in 1991 was selected as Deputy Forest Supervisor for the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Oregon.
Ms. Heywood has an extensive background in all aspects of the Northwest Forest Plan and was directly involved in on-the-ground implementation of that plan on both the Gifford Pinchot and Shasta-Trinity National Forests.
