Biographical Information about Sherri Miller

Sherri Miller joined the Forest Service in 1989 as a Wildlife Biologist for the U.S. Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Research Station, Redwood Sciences Laboratory, Arcata. Sherri earned a Master’s of Science degree in Natural Resources Wildlife in 1992 and a Bachelor of Science degree in 1986 from Humboldt State University.

She has served for 8 years as a member of the Northwest Forest Plan Marbled Murrelet Effectiveness Monitoring Team with responsibilities to develop and test monitoring protocols, and model habitat needs of the murrelet at patch and landscape scales. Her position includes responsibility for research planning and implementation, research reports and publications, and communication with collaborators and agencies for a variety of projects.

She is involved in research on many aspects of the biology of Marbled Murrelets, stream associated birds, and landbird species, including: population trends and distribution, breeding biology, development of monitoring techniques in aquatic and terrestrial environments, habitat relationship models, landscape ecology, and the effects of large scale riverine habitat restoration on aquatic and riparian avian communities.
